Michelle graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences with a concentration in Molecular Biotechnology. She is ASCP certified as a Molecular Biologist (MB) and Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS). Previously she worked at ACL Laboratories as the Lead Technologist in Molecular Pathology overseeing quality assurance of laboratory results, daily laboratory workflow and assisting with problem solving and training of new technologists and students. Michelle joined the University of Chicago in 2014 to be “at the forefront of medicine” and technology for DNA sequencing and cancer detection. Her focus is developing and implementing new testing for the clinical laboratory using a variety of library preparation methods and next-generation sequencers.
In her spare time Michelle enjoys going to Cubs games with her husband, travelling the world and learning new arts and crafts.
