Lauren Ritterhouse completed a Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship at Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA), during which she was interested in the translation of emerging molecular biomarkers into the clinical laboratory, including those evaluating hematologic malignancies, circulating tumor DNA, as well as solid tumor mutational signature profiling. She also completed Anatomic Pathology Residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Boston, MA) and has a particular interest in the correlation between morphological and molecular findings, as well as the incorporation of molecular diagnostics into tumor classification. Prior to this training, she earned an MD and PhD in Pathology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (Oklahoma City, OK) during which her research was focused on environmental influences on the immune system and autoimmunity, including aberrant cytokine production in systemic lupus erythematosus. She joined the Genomic and Molecular Pathology (GMP) division at the University of Chicago in 2017.
